Athletic Events

Peninsula College has been a proud partner with the Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival for many years. The Pirate women’s basketball team hosts a 5K Crab Fest Fun Run/Walk every year, the Pirate men’s basketball team annually assists with the always popular Crab Derby, while the NWAACC champion and nationally ranked soccer program assists each night with maintaining the festival grounds. In addition, the Pirate athletic department has collaborated with Port Angeles High School Volleyball to host the annual Crab Fest Beach Volleyball Tournament.

Crab Fest 5K Run/Walk

Noon, Saturday, Oct. 12, Olympic Discovery Trail.
The event starts at Hollywood Beach and features an “out-and-back” route. Pre-registration is available through the Peninsula College Foundation through Oct. 1 Race-day registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The event is a fund raiser for Pirate women’s basketball. The entry fee is $25 prior to Oct. 1 and $30 after that date and on race day and includes a T-shirt, a coupon for the Crab Derby and a coupon for $5.00 off a crab dinner.  Race day participants may have a limited selection of T-shirt sizes. The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association

The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association will give a demonstration of competitive rowing under the direction of their Internationally acclaimed rowing coach Rodrigo Rodriquez. The exhibition will take place off of the city pier at 11 to 11:30 am. Two person and four person racing boats will be exhibited. If you are interested in learning more about this sport please stop by the OPRA booth at the Crab Fest. There will also be an open house on Saturday, October 19th at the boat house on Ediz Hook from 9 am until noon.
