Chowder Cookoff

Sunday, October 12, 2014,10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Attention Chowder lovers!!  Are you an amazing chowder cook at home?  Do you feature one-of-a-kind chowder at your restaurant? Then now is your chance to show off with the “Galloping Gourmet,” Chef Graham Kerr as your judge at the inaugural Captain Joseph House Benefit Chowder Cook-off! Prizes, bragging rights, and a title in your chef’s hat!  Cook or visit and taste, Sunday October 13, 2013 10am-2:00 pm at the Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival On the Port Angeles, Wash. Waterfront. If you love cooking chowder, organize a team and show everyone why your chowder is the best!

Entry Fee – Professional – $45.00 first entry and $22.50 each addition chowder entry; Amateur – $20.00 first entry $10.00 each addition entry. All entry fees go directly to the Captain Joseph House Foundation and are tax-deductible.

The Chowder – Any type of seafood, combination, or even vegetarian.

To Enter a Team

Download the  Chowder cook-off application   and the Chowder Cook off Fact Sheet, review the rules and regulations and submit your application and registration fee by October XX, 2014.

At the Chowder Cook-Off we will host not only great cooks, the Grand Prize, the People’s Choice Award, and great chowder for tasting, but you’ll have an opportunity to meet one of television’s most iconic chefs, Graham Kerr…the “Galloping Gourmet.”  Bring your favorite cookbooks and get them signed, and buy his latest book – “Growing at the Speed of Life.”

Schedule

8:00-10:00 a.m. — Load In and Setup
10:00 a.m. — Cook-off starts; No food prep allowed before the start time, “tastings”
for the public will begin as soon as chowders are ready
1:00 p.m. —  Chowder judging; 2 oz samples to the judging tent for Graham Kerr
1:45 p.m. — Votes submitted for People’s Choice Awards
2:00 p.m. — Official Award Ceremony and presentation by Graham Kerr

Health Department

We are working closely with the Clallam County Health Department and there will be a master special event license for the event. This will allow those without a professional kitchen to participate. All food preparation will be done on-site (i.e. cutting potatoes). That is all part of the contest.
