2019 CRAB FESTIVAL MUSIC LINEUP

Our music stage in the Kitsap Bank Crab Central Pavilion features fantastic FREE live music throughout the weekend – country, bluegrass, rock, jazz, and folk – we have it all covered!

An exciting addition beginning in 2017 was the introduction of the Windermere Real Estate Pier Stage, right next to the outside food booths and Grab-A-Crab Derby.

Music performances on the Main Stage are sponsored by Jim’s Pharmacy and Air Flo Heating, and on the Small Stage by Windermere Real Estate Port Angeles.

BANDS IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER

Black Diamond Junction – Black Diamond Junction brings a high energy show of classic rock and pop (and a little country) hits from the 1960s-1990s. You’ll hear plenty of songs that flooded the radio airwaves back in the day, plus some twists on tunes you like you haven’t experienced before. BDJ wows crowds at festivals and events all around western Washington with their danceable, foot-stomping, sing-a-long performances. 

Blackbird – Folk

Buck Ellard Band – Brian ‘Buck’ Ellard has toured through much of Europe, Canada, and the United States, opening for acts such as Hank Williams III and David Allan Coe.  His music includes country and classic rock covers, as well as originals…one of his original songs, “Goodbye Song” is in the movie “Dead In 5 Heartbeats”

 

CD Woodbury Trio – From a reputation as an ace sideman, CD Woodbury is emerging as an internationally recognized singer, songwriter, and guitarist. The trio features contemporary and original blues, plus other roots-based electric styles.

Ches Ferguson –  “Folkadellic Groove for your Soul”.  Always a musical adventure on guitar and vocals.

 

Chez Jazz – Chez Jazz, featuring saxophone (Craig Buhler), drums (Tom Svornich), bass (Ted Enderle), piano (Al Harris), and vocals (Sarah Shea) plays upbeat Jazz/Funk fusion, as well as more intimate Jazz standards.

 

Crushwater – Crushwater is an original band from Port Angeles, Washington that plays original songs with vocals that interlace harmony and interwoven male/female lyrical interplay, enraptured by a bed of lush violins, full harmonies, resonant guitars, and driving rhythms.

Dawn Martin – Americana / Classic covers

Hippy & The Squids – Kitsap County-based Hippy and The Squids is composed of three super cool dudes! They have been performing throughout the greater Puget Sound Region since 2011, playing an eclectic mix of popular music that spans the ages. Their unique acoustic arrangement and style exude fun, upbeat energy that is enjoyed by audiences both young and old.

Jack Dwyer & Friends – Jack Dwyer is a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and teacher.  He records and performs original music under his own name and works as a freelance picker with some of the most respected Northwest and nationally-based musicians, appearing at festivals around the Pacific Northwest and the country.

Jean Therapy West – Cross-over vocalist Jean Lenke, The Jean Therapy Band & Jazz Combos compromise an eclectic group of musicians playing an interesting fusion of Classic Jazz, Folk, & the ’60s & ’70s Jazz-Rock Fusion.

Jim Lind – Folk / Country Covers

Joy in Mudville – Joy In Mudville combines influences from old-time bluegrass, folk, rock, country, blues & funk with Jason Mogi on clawhammer banjo/acoustic & electric guitar/vocals, Kim Trenerry on acoustic guitar/vocals, Paul Stehr-Green on bass/vocals, and Terry Smith on drums. Whether an original tune, a driving barn-burner, some funk-rock, or one of many Grateful Dead covers, their music is super-high-energy with tight harmonies, clever arrangements, and danceable grooves.

Kayohti – Kayohti is a four-piece band (guitar, keyboard, bass & drums) composed of some of the most experienced players on the Olympic Peninsula. Featuring Jim Charlier on bass & vocals, Mark Schecter on keyboards & vocals, Terry Smith on drums, and Mike Pace on guitar & vocals, Kayohti plays both originals and uniquely interpreted covers. You can expect to hear anything from Albert King to The Meters, The Neville Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, and Little Feat. It’s all about dancing.

Mad Dash – MAD DASH is a high-energy, four-piece band, which was originally founded 30 years ago in Los Angeles, CA. Mad Dash plays a variety of tunes ranging from ’50s Oldies to ’80s Rock, Country Rock, as well as some Modern and Traditional Country.

Meg Williams Duo – Beneath this sweet exterior lurks a rock ‘n’ roller!  Based in Nashville, Meg Williams performs across the country with her band, as a solo/duo act, and as a guitarist for other artists. Meg’s newest CD, ‘Take Me As I Am: The Muscle Shoals Sessions’, highlights her trademark blues/rock/soul vibe.

Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers – Directed by Michael Rivers.

 

Shakey Jake Band – Shakey Jake Band strives to bring the best in classic rock, southern rock, a splash of country, and originals to entertain audiences and to motivate them to get up and dance. 

 

Soyaya – African band Soyaya features virtuosic acoustic guitar, dynamic talking drums, and endearing vocals featuring Mohammed Shaibu. The name ‘Soyaya’ means love and affection in the native language of Hausa in West Africa. The music of Soyaya is a combination of Palmwine and Highlife and is the indigenous rhythm and blues of West Africa.

 

Steve Eaton Trio – Steve Eaton plays a mix of blues, jazz, and rock and roll. A former member of the ’70s band Paul Revere and the Raiders, Steve has opened for and played with such notables as Ray Charles and Carol King and has composed songs for The Carpenters, Art Garfunkel, and others.

 

The Lisa Mitts Band – Lisa Mitts is a singer/songwriter, pianist, and recording artist. Her band plays original and covers from the iconic country, ’70s rock, R&B, and contemporary Christian artists, as well as piano instrumentals.

TüN – Seattle, Washington’s TüN (pronounced TOON) weaves vibrant strings of blues, funk, and soul together to form a strong sonic fabric, both familiar and unique. Their mission is to recapture the essence of the ‘70s era when musicianship mattered above all.

Abakis – (a.k.a. Aba Kiser) creates collaborative music that bridges new and old worlds: a delicate blend of the classic soul led by powerhouse vocals and Kottke-style fingerpicking guitar.

Ant Bath – A 4-piece instrumental band that takes its cues from early surf music, Lo-Fi garage rock, and modern psychedelia. Warning: excessive reverb!

Badd Dog Blues Society – Tapping the wealth of abundant talent in the Bellingham blues scene, Andy Koch has brought together an up-tempo ensemble sure to please blues lovers everywhere. Join the band as they wag their way through the back alleys of the blues – dancing, singing, and howling the night away.

Black Door Alley – A fusion of accomplished musicians creating an eclectic rock sound. Each member shares an impressive history of travel and touring on numerous stages. Being a part of the sound of Black Door Alley makes you wanna dance and move your body!

Black Rock – All members of this local Sequim band have been playing since childhood. Combined, they have been in dozens of bands spanning several genres. They have a tight sound, a testament to their love of playing together.

Bread & Gravy – A popular quartet performing a variety of styles, including Americana, blues, classic rock, originals, soul, and bluegrass.

Bryson Foster Band – A soul/blues type band, with groovy hip-hop backbeats, soulful tenor vocals, and lead Chicago-style blues guitar. Bryson’s most ​​recent album, “Balancing,” is a tribute to coming of age out of a disconnected story, finding your tribe, and making peace with your ethnicity.

Caribe Steel Band – Blending lively instrumental arrangements featuring Caribbean Steel Pans and crowd-pleasing vocal songs, Caribe will warm your soul and lift your spirits with the sounds of the Caribbean: reggae, calypso, soca, samba, and even your favorite pop tunes – with an island twist!

Hot Damn!  A scalable band which can be a quiet soft jazz trio or a high energy nine-piece retro-rock horn band playing hits from the ’60s through today.

Lisa Ramsauer & The Oly Rain Project – Our genre is probably best described as Blues/Jazz with a hint of a sultry grind to the vocals.  It is the guitar that inspires my songs, whether coming from the heart about being human or a slight dip into the political.

Locos Only – Out of the prairie dust of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley rides Locos Only, a four-piece band traversing the musical landscape with a powerful, compelling, and memorable mix of eclectic rhythm and blues, and soulful, earthy rock; what they call “roots in the blender.”

Tanga – Bringing a potent blend of jazz, rock, blues, funk, and Latin music to the North Olympic Peninsula for a long time. The core of the band has been rehearsing their music together for the last fifteen years, so expect powerful and sophisticated musical mastery.

The Crocs – Playing music from such diverse genres as rock, funk, blues, reggae, and Latin grooves, their specialty is taking a familiar cover and giving it a new twist. They also toss in a few originals to keep it interesting!

The Fabulous Murphtones – Playing a diverse mix of popular dance, rock, classic rock, and old school music drawing on hits from the ’60s through the ’90s and performing current rock hits of upcoming artists, along with a refreshing selection of material not often played by other bands.

The Fat Chance Band – The band has been playing for 37 years all over the Olympic Peninsula. They play a wide variety of rock & roll covers and originals.

The Free Rangers

The Mike Klinger B3 Organ Group – a seasoned professional local jazz quintet from Sequim, playing some Jimmy Smith, Booker T. & the MGs, jazz standards, and some of Mike’s original music.

The Naughty Blokes – The band formed in 2014 in Bellingham, Washington, and all members are veterans of the Northwest Coast music scene. The Blokes rock’n’roll mission was galvanized when they won KISM Radio’s Road to Rockstar competition. The Blokes are dedicated to living the rock’n’roll dream of writing and performing classic rock for the modern age.

The Quattro Gatos – A highly volatile mixture of their own swanky style of newgrass that locals have started to coin “Footstompin’ Swampgrass”. This group is sure to leave you exhausted from the non-stop dancefest!

Twisted Roots – Sharing their love of acoustic music that is “Boomer-friendly with a twist.” Folk, bluegrass, Western Swing, Hawaiian, and blues get a twisted update with finger-style guitar, dobro, banjo, lap steel, ukulele, percussion, and bass.

Wendy Bradbury Jazz Quintet – With a natural ear for harmony, Wendy Bradbury has gravitated to all sorts of music, finally finding a sweet spot in jazz and blues. Whether sultry ballads or lively up tunes, she incorporates her own style in every song. Join her jazz quintet with monster pianist Andy Roben, marathon bassist Mark Colbert, seasoned drummer Tony Cappiello, and rock-solid trumpeter Jim Bradbury.
