3rd Annual Chowder Cook-Off to Benefit Captain Joseph House
Port Angeles, WA August 17, 2015 – Chowder lovers rejoice!! Are you an amazing chowder cook at home? Do you feature one-of-a-kind chowder at your restaurant? You will want to try your hand at chowder as Chef Graham Kerr, “The Galloping Gourmet” has agreed to be our guest judge at the 2015 3rd Annual Captain Joseph House Chowder Cook-Off, Sunday, October 11 at the Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival in Port Angeles. Proceeds of the event will benefit Captain Joseph House, a place of respite and healing for the Gold Star Families of our Fallen Heroes.
Chef Kerr will not only speak and present a cooking demonstration at the 14th Annual CrabFest but will also join us on Sunday to judge the best of our chowder cooks.
Now is the time to pull your cooking team together and prove why your chowder is the best! In addition to the judging by Chef Kerr, festival goers will also pick their favorite chowder for the “People’s Choice” award.
Entry fees for professional cooks are $45 for the first entry and $22.50 for each additional entry. Entry fees for amateur cooks are $20 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry. The chowder recipe can be seafood, a combination of seafood and vegetables, or vegetarian. For more information go to www.crabfestival.org or www.CaptainJosephHouseFoundation.org. Chowder Cook-Off takes place from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Transit Center next to the Port Angeles waterfront. Visitors can watch the chefs cooking beginning at 10:00am and taste chowders from both amateur and professional cooks starting at noon. Purchase unlimited tickets for $10 each to support Captain Joseph House. Each ticket receives 5 tastes and one People’s Choice vote. The more tickets you buy, the more chowder you can sample and the more votes you have! Chef Kerr will begin judging at 12:30pm and will preside at the official awards ceremony at 2:00pm.
